Hop, Follow, & TGIF { 15 }

This week, I'm participating in three different Friday memes! Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Parajunkee's View hosts Follow Friday. And a new Friday question to the block, TGIF at Greads! These are all wonderful opportunities for bloggers to get to know each other.

Today's question from the Hop...
What book-to-movie adaptation have you most liked? Which have you disliked?
Honestly, probably the Lord of the Rings. I saw the movies before I ever read the books in high school, and I was so impressed with how much they actually fit into those movies from such gigantic books. I do have a lot of respect for Peter Jackson as a director, and I can't tell you how excited I a to see his adaptation of The Hobbit. For least favorite...I'd probably have to go with the movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It's just so bad. So, so, so bad. I can barely stand to watch it when I'm going through the whole series again. My boyfriend hasn't ever read the books, and he doesn't like the fourth movie. :-P

Today's question from Follow Friday...
How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?
I actually have to admit I'm being really slow recently. I'm maybe getting a book a week. Usually, when my life is a little more in order, I can manage 2 - 3 in a week. I'm hoping to get back to that soon! And as for format, I'm a real book junkie all the way, though I may be bending soon and purchasing a Nook.

Today's question from TGIF...
Author Love: In 2011, which new/old authors have you discovered and loved?
OMG, SO MANY! I really just started my blog this year, and I started really focusing on YA fiction this year. Stephanie Perkins, Lisa Bergren, Beth Revis, Cynthia Hand, Rachel Hawkins, Andrea Cremer...the list could go on and on and on. And I have discovered a couple of older adult authors that I never expected to like so much: Charlaine Harris, Karen Marie Moning, and J. R. Ward. Honestly, it's just been an amazing first (almost) half of the year. I've found so many authors, and rediscovered even more.

Hop, Follow, & TGIF { 14 }

Which book blogger would you most like to meet in real life?
How can I pick just one of you guys? There are so many of my fellow book bloggers I'd love to meet in real life, there's no way I could pick just one!

Today's question from Follow Friday...
Circle time! Time to share. What character in a book would you most like to be, what character in a book would you most like to date?
Wow, there are billions. So I'm totally going with the most obvious two. I'd love to be Hermione from Harry Potter, and have Won-Won all to myself. But I'd also love to trade places with Claire from the Outlander series, and have the gorgeous Jamie Fraser as my hubby. [insert dreamy sigh]

Today's question from TGIF...
Book Blogger Identity: What occupies your time when you are not reading and/or blogging?
Well, work-wise, I work part-time at a library and that occupies half of the week (plus a couple hours de-stressing). If I'm not on the computer, I'm usually snuggled up on the couch with my dogs and/or boyfriend watching movies, or tv, or watching him play video games. The gym gets about 3 - 5 hours a week, and we're always going out with friends it seems like. I also love shopping, so I spend quite a lot of time doing that too. :-P Really, I'm just a normal girl outside of blogging. I work, I go to the gym, I hang out with friends, I enjoy my time with my family, and when I'm not...my nose is stuck in a book. ;D

Hop, Follow, & TGIF { 13 }

Coming soon...

Today's question from Follow Friday...
Do you have anyone you can discuss books with in real life? Tell us about him.her.
Total in depth discussions? Nah. But I can always have a casual conversation about my latest read with either one of my coworkers or my mom.My coworker, if you can believe it, is really the only other person that reads, and we work in a library! My mom is the whole reason I'm such an avid reader to begin with. :D

Today's question from TGIF...
If you could visit any fictional setting in a story, where would you go?
So, somehow, I think Harry Potter has to be an answer in some sort of question on Friday no matter what. He just keeps popping up at least once a week, lol! My top places would definitely be anywhere from the Wizarding World. Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade - whatever. I'd go anywhere in that world.

But, really, there are a bunch of settings in various books that would be fun to visit. Fairy tales, fantasy worlds...everyone has its appeal. But HP will always take the top spot in my heart. ;D

Book Hop & Follow Friday (12)

This week, I'm participating in three different Friday memes! Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Parajunkee's View hosts Follow Friday. And a new Friday question to the block, TGIF at Greads! These are all wonderful opportunities for bloggers to get to know each other.

Today's question from the Hop...
"Coming soon..."

Today's question from Follow Friday...
"Do you judge a book by it's cover?"
YES! I am so guilty of being a cover junkie, it's ridiculous. I've bought books from the library book sale just because of their book covers, and not even looked inside to see if the story is even good. I tend to just pass over books if they have a really horrendous cover, but I have been pleasantly surprised every now and then if I just give the book a chance.

Today's question from TGIF...
"Book Tears: Do you get emotional when you read? Which books had you in tears?"
I am a very, very emotional reader. I'll get teary all the time if I'm really connected to a book, and something tragic happens. I remember my first real cry over a book was in middle school when I finished The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman. At that time, I couldn't comprehend a less-than-perfect ending, so it was devastating. My biggest cry was probably over the 5th - 7th Harry Potter books. Especially the 7th. Snape being my favorite character...yeah. That wasn't a pretty night.

Those are my most memorable cries, though there have been countless books that have gotten a sniffle or two out of me. ;D

Book Hop & Follow Friday (11)

This week, I'm participating in three different Friday memes! Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Parajunkee's View hots Folly Friday. And a new Friday question to the block, TGIF at Greads! These are all wonderful opportunities for bloggers to get to know each other better.

Today's question from the Hop...

"Since today is April Fool's Day in the USA, what is the best prank you have ever played on someone, OR that someone has played on you?"
Is it weird that I can't think of a single thing...? I scare really easily, so my boyfriend is constantly playing little tiny tricks on me, but I actually can't think of any huge prank. Sorry, lol!

Today's question from Follow Friday...
"What is the book that you really don't want to admit to loving?"
Honestly, it's probably still Twilight. Online it's not so hard to admit, since there are a bunch of fans out there, but in real life? Ugh. I used to keep the set in the bedroom, where only I could see it. But recently, I've actually reorganized by shelves, and it's out in the living room loud and proud. I still squirm a little whenever friends cover over and just hope they don't notice it, though.

Today's question from TGIF...
"Characters We Love: Which male and/or female character have your found yourself connected to the most?"
Wow, what a loaded question. I think I honestly get more attached to the story and world than feel connected to a specific character. But if I had to choose the most, it would probably be Harry from the Harry Potter series. I grew up with the books, and I've grown up with the actors in the movies (I'm the same age as Dan!). I can't imagine being more connected to anything literary than that.

Though Katniss from The Hunger Games or Clary from The Mortal Instruments could probably be close seconds.

Book Hop & Follow Friday (10)

This week, I'm participating in three different Friday memes! Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Parajunkee's View hots Folly Friday. And a new Friday question to the block, TGIF at Greads! These are all wonderful opportunities for bloggers to get to know each other better.

Today's question from the Hop...
"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?"
Are you kidding? Harry Potter all the way! I've dreamed of going to Hogwarts since I was eight years old, and I'm still secretly waiting for my acceptance letter. I want my own owl, and a wand, and to be sorted, and make all kinds of wizardy friends. It would be amazing.

Today's question from Follow Friday...
"Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100factsaboutme, give us five BOOK RELATED silly facts about you."
1.) I compulsively redo all my book shelves. Sometimes, I just get frustrated, take them all down, and put them all back up. And I have three huge shelves full. Not an easy task.
2.) Over half the books I own, I haven't read, but I still continue to buy books.
3.) Since I do the majority of the book ordering for my library, I may or may not stick a couple of books in there that I really, really want to read but don't want to buy. Luckily, all my choices have flown off the shelves like hotcakes. Unluckily, I haven't gotten them yet. :(
4.) I'd much rather be reading than doing anything else. If I could quit my job, and just read all the time, I totally would. Lottery, her I come...
5.) I judge books by their covers. All the time. I know it's so bad of me, but I just have a horrible case of constant cover lust. If I could frame some of the covers that come out now and hang them on my wall, I totally would.

Today's question from TGIF...
"Writing Negative Reviews: Are you guilty of it?"
Not really negative, but not really supportive. If it's something like the Luxe series that annoyed the crap out of me, yeah, I'll vent a little. Or if it's like one of the books I finished recently that just...really didn't do it for me, I'm not going to write a glowing review. But while I may post negative things, I will also always post positive. In fact, I even try to do that with books I absolutely adore, because I want to cover the whole spectrum. So while I will never right an outright nasty 'ugh, I hated it!' review, I'm not going to skirt around my true feelings.

Book Hop & Follow Friday (9)

This week, I'm participating in three different Friday memes! Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Parajunkee's View hots Folly Friday. And a new Friday question to the block, TGIF at Greads! These are all wonderful opportunities for bloggers to get to know each other better.

Today's question from the Hop...
"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"
I used to be able to do this so easily as a kid! I'd have at least three books going at once, and never forget the plots. Now? Well, sometimes I get previous book's plots mixed up with what I'm currently reading, so keeping up with one book at a time is as task in and of itself.

Today's question from Follow Friday...
"How did you come up with your blog name?"
It was actually a long process. I knew I wanted it to include the word "tea" somehow, since I love tea, and it's my online persona. ;D I had notepads full of different names, and I actually ended up just getting frustrated and picking one. But now, I'm pretty satisfied, though I do have some blog name envy every now and then.

Today's question from TGIF...
"Cover lust: which book covers are you lusting over right now?"
I am a total cover junkie, so this is actually really hard lol! But I'll just pick three randoms off my list. I chose newer books, since it's just too hard for me to pick only a couple from all of my favorite books.
